Webometrics Ranking of World Universities originated from an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group owned by Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), Spain's largest public research.
Spanish Research Council CSIC is the main part of the first basic research organization in Europe. CSIC was established in 2006 of 126 centers and institutions throughout Spain.
CSIC attached to the Ministry of Education and its main purpose is to promote scientific research to improve the progress of science and technology level of country that will contribute to improving the welfare of citizens.
CSIC was also instrumental in the formation of new researchers and technicians in various aspects of science and technology.
