History
Education University of Indonesia was established on October 20, 1954 in Bandung, was inaugurated by the Minister of Education Teaching Mr. Muhammad Yamin. In line with the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 40 718 / S at the time, which states that PTPG can stand on its own into universities or colleges within the university, then as the founding of the University of Padjadjaran (Padjadjaran University), on 25 November 1958 PTPG be integrated into primary school by the name of Padjadjaran University Faculty of Teaching and Science Education (Guidance and Counseling).
To strengthen the procurement system of teachers and education personnel, a variety of courses that exist at that time, namely teacher education BI and B II, integrated into the Guidance and Counseling through the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 6 of 1961. Further Guidance and Counseling Guidance and Counseling developed into A and B. FKIP At the same time, the stand also Institute of Teacher Education (IPG), which resulted in the dualism in teacher education institutions. IKIP Bandung at that time already has five faculties, namely Faculty of Education, Teacher Training Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Literature and Art Teacher Training, Teacher Training Faculty of the exact sciences, and the Teaching Faculty of Engineering Sciences. Structuring higher education programs conducted by the government by applying multiprogram and multistrata, followed by opening IKIP Bandung Education Diploma Program. To improve the qualifications of primary school teachers to be graduates of D II, academic year 1990 / 1991 and held by the Teacher Education Program D II Elementary School. In line with government policy in the field of higher education that provides expanded mandate for the Institute of Education Workforce Education (LPTK) to be able to follow the demands of change and to anticipate all possibilities in the future, Bandung was changed to the University Teachers' Training College of Education of Indonesia through Presidential Decree No. 124 of 1999 dated 7 October 1999.
